BEEF Season 2

Beef Season 2 was mostly fun, but at times it felt confusing and simple. I think I went in expecting more because I knew things would eventually spiral out of control, but some moments were resolved too simply to leave any real impact.

The theme was well thought out, especially the idea that the cyclical ordeals built into society often drive our daily lives more than our own choices. It also explored how wealth is a privilege that can destroy the lives of others when they are only valued for how they serve someone else’s agenda.

The acting was good, but there were times when I found myself searching for more substance in what was not being said out loud. Instead, some scenes felt like they were missing the synergy needed to make those quieter moments land. The set design, though, was fantastic. The spaces often told a story between the lines when the characters did not. There was so much texture. I LOVED the pillows, omg.

The music and soundtrack were also great. At times, it felt like they were pulling my 2010 jams straight from my own playlist. Hot Chip cameo?! Finneas?! What…

I just hoped for a little more chaos. Not because I wanted bad things to happen to characters I grew to like, but because the first season was known for those random, magical WTF moments. There were plenty. I might just have an issue wanting more. This season ended with more of a statement than an edge-of-your-seat reveal, but that’s okay. I’m still looking forward to what will hopefully be a Season 3.

Overall, I’m enjoying Beef in a similar way to The White Lotus, with different stories each season, a new world to explore, and a few familiar faces along the way.
