There are moments in cinematic history when audiences help change the course of a film, and Coyote vs. Acme feels like a true triumph considering we nearly never got the chance to see it.

For me, finally watching the movie was especially rewarding because I was one of the first people at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 to see previously unreleased footage and the official trailer. I was right there in front, recording a video that ended up going viral when Will Forte yelled, “Show the trailer!” to the eager audience. From that moment on, I was invested, so seeing the finished film finally make it to theaters felt incredibly satisfying.

It also made me happy to see the film earn back its money, especially considering Ketchup Entertainment still had to invest a significant amount to acquire the distribution rights and bring it to audiences.

Now, as for the actual movie: it’s fun, charming, and may even have the potential to become timeless. I was expecting a few more laughs than it ultimately delivered, but it’s still a worthwhile film, and I’m genuinely happy we finally got to experience it. There are some truly human messages that make it more than a few thrills and laughs, but for some reason I felt like too much was edited out. I feel like John Cena needed a few more scenes and Lana Condor’s character arch could have been a bit more expressive, but she did not get that many chances to shine.

The blend of live-action footage and animation was a pleasure to watch unfold on the big screen. The exaggerated action sequences were perfectly complemented by the animated chaos we grew up seeing in classic cartoons. It brought back a wave of childhood memories and nostalgia while introducing that style of comedy and animation to an entirely new audience.

More than anything, Coyote vs. Acme feels like a movie that audiences were never supposed to see, which makes finally getting to watch it all the more special.
