I loved it so much that I’ve seen it three times in theaters. I’ll admit, I have a strong bias: anything with Lady Gaga is automatically a perfect 7/7 disco balls for me. But even without her, The Devil Wears Prada 2 holds up as a strong, charming sequel to a cultural phenomenon.
The film is a fun adventure with characters we already love, while also giving us a whimsical look at the current state of journalism and the fashion industry. It never tries to get too deep or lose the tone that made the original so beloved, and honestly? I’m okay with that.
The music was great, and the fact that we got three Lady Gaga songs was a dream come true. The rest of the soundtrack also helped bring the film to life, pairing solid beats with flashy on-screen montages that made the movie feel vibrant and fun.
The cinematography, however, played it a little safe. I only remember a few truly iconic visual moments, especially the first scenes with Meryl Streep, the fashion show montages, and the ending sequence. Overall, it felt a bit more Disney-polished than fashion-forward, but either way, it was still pleasant to watch and listen to.
The acting was great across the board. The cast all played their parts well, but Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci especially stepped it up, giving believable and memorable performances that reminded us why these characters are so beloved.
This movie is escapism at its best, but it still finds a way to reflect the inner workings of our own lives. It tells a story that feels relevant, uplifting, and full of style.
